I have some money to invest but im not going to lay a hard number down as there is no deadline in my effort to stockpile parts and i am willing to wait as long as needed to meet my goal.

However, having said that i am not looking to spend every last dollar on the very best parts. No cheap junk. Just nothing over the top.

I already have a SLP lid on the car. A FTRA on the way as well as Pacesetter LT's and TSP tru duals.

I am going to install DMH dual cut outs before magnaflow hi-flow cats. The cats are a must in this small town for inspection reasons.

Also, ordering a MGW shifter very soon. As well as a SLP UD pulley.

Now here is the parts were a need some advice. I am chasing a number around 470rwhp. Having that in mind i am considering the following:

TSP 2.5 heads
LG G5x3 112lsa cam
Pro products 96mm Intake manifold
with a Nick Williams 90 TB

The fast 90/90 is out of my price range. But my question is how does this head and cam sound considering my goal. I have really looked into AFR 205's
but the tsp's can be had for much less. Like i said if a different set of heads is what i truly need i am willing to wait as long as i need.

I have also read about custom cams being the best? If so what company could give me a good grind?

I should also tell you that i am aware that the a clutch and rear end are going to be needed. I have this in my mind and will have these parts will be installed immediately after the car is tuned. I am 20 minutes from Tick Performance and plan to have everything installed by them and let RCMforless do my dyno tuning.

I have reading on here alot and use my search button religiously. I just thought it was time for my own thread.

Thanks a lot and i apologize for the long thread.

ANY and ALL input is appreciated and if i am totally wrong PLEASE tell me. I'm here to learn.

If a '98-'00 Z28, Add LS6, Katech or ARP rodbolts to your list.

TSP ls6 2.5 heads w/G5X3 112lsa will require flycutting your pistons for clearance. TSP ls6 stg 1 heads will work with the G5X3 112lsa w/o flycutting, but it will be tight. That combo with an ls6 intake should be good for 440rwhp.

If you want a custom cam, contact Patrick Guerra over at Thunder Racing.

AFR 205s are better than as cast TFS 220s.

Save for a FAST 90/92/102 Manifold, If not, then next best option is a LS6 manifold.

here's what ive gathered from doing my own research for my build. i got a 01 ta with a futural motorsports f13 cam ground on a 111 lsa, it was tuned with a stock maf, slp lid, pp stock tb, and ls6 and dyno-ed at 410 with stock heads with prc .650" dual springs and stock rockers with trunnion bearings, 2.5" w/ x pipe true duals, cat delete, spec stage 3 clutch with billet steel flywheel, stock 10 bolt. i saw the dyno sheet myself when handed the title. the car has stock 28.8 injectors and are beyond max, so i bought a set of 42#ers to have a little room for future upgrades. now with the ls6 intake, it is restricting the cam severely. the ls6 intake was desinged for the ls6 cam and stock 243 heads and nothing more. so my f13 is prolly a little more then twice as big as the stock ls6 cam and is chopping off air flow at around .570" of valve lift. i just bought a pp 96mm intake and nw 96mm tb, and going with a 85mm maf and have the K&N fipk gen 2 kit, so once the car is tuned for this set up, it will putting down more then before, im thinking maybe 10 or 15 whp. i am really sick and tired of hearing fast, fast, fast. i read a while back that a guy installed a pp85mm intake with matched tb on an 04 gto, thats the ls1 with ls6 intake and 241 heads, and made 14 whp over the ls6. the 96mm would prolly be more, and also the ls6 drops off air flow at around 6300 rpms which is the rpm limit of stock z06's, where as the 85mm kept flowing up to 7000, and again the 96mm even more. i chose the 96 also to support any future mods like heads and such. to me, you can get the same end result without having to drop the big G for a fast 102/102 setup or even still the 92/92 or 90/90 from fast. also if you plan on using nitrous, the aluminum is much much stronger then the weak composite ****, and the whole dreaded heat soak is a bunch of bs, especially if its just gunna be your dd street car and not a purpose built track car, and even still a true purpuse built track car will use a tell sheet METAL intake. not only will you save a bunch of $$$ going with an aluminum, you also have more room for porting if you choose to go with a larger tb. ide say screw the biased opinions of composite only intake users and maybe take in some advise of using an aluminum. with an 85mm or even the 96mm with a nice cam and a good set of heads, nice exhaust, and a good tune, you can achieve your 470 goal if not more.
