Default Header install

Received my American Racing 1 3/4" headers with catted y-pipe today (many thanks to John at Thunder Racing) and am having them installed later this week on my 2001 A4 Z28 Camaro. Was just wondering whether I can expect any issues with the plug wires? I'm saying this because I've just popped the hood to take a look at the stock setup and even with the factory manifolds I notice that the rubber boots on my MSD wires only have a few mm clearance.

i don't have experience with the AR headers but when I installed my pacesetters my plug wires didn't have any issues with clearance. maybe someone that has these headers can chime in but i would imagine you would be just fine

I also have the ARH headers with MSD wires and so far I've had zero problems.

Agreed man there should be no issues. American Racing headers are the best on the market IMO!!

I would assume that the material around the boots and wires can sustain the heat, because I noticed that one of my wires was touching the EGR port (albeit blocked off, but still piping hot) of my Pacesetters after I installed them. It took me about 2 weeks to get the spark plug wire heat sleeve for peace of mind, but within the 2 weeks, there was no mark on the header OR the wire, and I did drive it for some pretty decent distances. Probably racked about 400-500 miles in that 2 weeks.

After you snap/clip the MSD wire onto the plug you can bend it away from the primary for clearance
