Header install Received my American Racing 1 3/4" headers with catted y-pipe today (many thanks to John at Thunder Racing) and am having them installed later this week on my 2001 A4 Z28 Camaro. Was just wondering whether I can expect any issues with the plug wires? I'm saying this because I've just popped the hood to take a look at the stock setup and even with the factory manifolds I notice that the rubber boots on my MSD wires only have a few mm clearance.

i don't have experience with the AR headers but when I installed my pacesetters my plug wires didn't have any issues with clearance. maybe someone that has these headers can chime in but i would imagine you would be just fine

I would assume that the material around the boots and wires can sustain the heat, because I noticed that one of my wires was touching the EGR port (albeit blocked off, but still piping hot) of my Pacesetters after I installed them. It took me about 2 weeks to get the spark plug wire heat sleeve for peace of mind, but within the 2 weeks, there was no mark on the header OR the wire, and I did drive it for some pretty decent distances. Probably racked about 400-500 miles in that 2 weeks.
