Y-Muffler vs Y-Pipe?
Y-Muffler vs Y-Pipe? I see a lot of people running racing Y pipes then a separate muffler, but what about just running something like the Magnaflow dual 3 in to single 4 out muffler vs running a y pipe to another muffler (I purchased the magnaflow piece)? Anyone have experience with these? They better/worse than an ORY with a muffler later in the system? Just seemed like you could kill 2 birds with one stone (same as their "x-pipe" mufflers). Just curious is all. Didn't see many running them (or maybe im not looking hard enough) and was wondering why as it seemed a better money option (vs buying a Y-pipe and a Muffler or buying an X-pipe and dual mufflers). the only main concern i would see would be clearance. if you have a 4" pipe coming out of the muffler, that muffler is going to be abotu 5 inches thick. If you are lowered, you are gongi to have almost zero clearance.
That's a good point =\ the thing is pretty damn huge lol... it is just shy of 5" tall when I measured it (about 1/2" above and below the 4" pipe outlet). My biggest concern was the width, but I didn't think that'd be a problem on the f-bodies and similar (this is in a nissan 240sx, which has a pretty small tunnel). I am going to make it work, but just more-so wondering if there's a performance/sound difference (clearance issues/etc aside)?
