LT's

the only reason for shorties is if you have to deal with certain state's emissions.

Definitely Long Tubes if you don't have to worry about emissions

ws6store.com is selling some ceramic coated headers pretty cheap right now. You should look at their site.

The only thing with most long tubes and y pipes is clearance and ride height speed bumps become you worst enemy but the power makes up for it!!

me personally I don't have headers yet but was looking into it and a lot of people on this site have LTs and have no clearance issues, now if you'd lower it who knows?

Get American racing headers if you have the budget. They tuck up real nice and fit great. You also might want to think about motor mounts to stop the y pipe from banging on the floor.

So consensus seems to go toward the Long Tubes.. So now the question is which should i really look at getting?
Pacesetters:
http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item...d=183&catid=45
-------------------------
Hookers:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HOK-2468HKR/
-------------------------
Hooker Comp:
http://www.ws6project.com/user_stor/...oducts_id=2886
-------------------------
Now few said to get the LT's as long as i dont have to worry about emissions.. So does that mean i should actually go with shorties instead? i def want the car legal and able to pass inspection.

And regardless of what i chose, is this something i can do in a weekend? or better left to a shop? The car isnt being driven at the moment, since the A/C is out and Texas heat with leather seats just dont go together, so if its something i can do now would be the time. And noticed a mention of the motor mounts, will i need to swap them out as well?

Benefits of getting headers, is some additional horsepower along with a deeper/louder sound..

Can anyone tell me why to go with the long tubes if i dont have to worry about emissions? Im in houston and have to deal with emaissions.. so what am i looking at as far as emission problems if i go with the LT's? i already got the hi-flow cats, but waiting to install until after the headers are put in..

I thought i saw on here where someone had some steps on installing the headers, was i mistaken and saw that on another site? want to get them for christmas gifteven though i will be the one doing the work lol )

Long tubes.. Go through one of the sponsors and give them a call for a great price.. ---------->

(Texas Speed, LG Motorsports, Thunder Racing, LS1Speed, WS6 store etc etc)

And it will take a solid afternoon to a full day to do the headers and Y. Depending on your abilities, tools and help available. Some slip right in, while others require you to disconnect the trans mount to move the engine over, or grind a casting tab off the block.

^ You may get a better price if you call.. From what I've heard. I've always ordered online, but my h/c stuff I ordered over the phone.

I started a thread a while back about opinions on the BBK headers and Y-pipe. Lots of good stuff if you can find the thread. Bottom line is the .5" smaller y pipe doesn't take any HP away and gives ya a bit more ground clearance. Most places carry them for $369 w/ y-pipe. The finish is chrome. From what i've read the installation with them is as easy as its gonna get for LT's. I will be pulling the trigger on them when tax return time gets here.
