Default FTRA Question...

I have a FTRA kit and I have had it on my car once before, but my car didnt seem to like that mod. I am going to be getting full length headers here soon and I just bought LS1edit. So my question is would it be worthwhile to put the FTRA back on since I have tuning capabilities now? Does the FTRA actually make a SOTP difference or a make improvements at the track? Like I said earlier, the first time I had it on the car, it felt like I lost some of my SOTP feeling.

I have it and ran at the track 4 passes. 2 open and 2 closed and I was .2 faster and over 2 mph faster with it. no sotp since it really doesnt help until around 70 mph.

A fine mod in my book. Solid provable gains with few, if any, drawbacks.

I promise you it's a worth while mod. I have never heard of any negative performance effects from increasing air intake. I would actually recommend getting an extension that grabs air from the front of the car and "forces" it into the FTRA. It's one of the better more worth while mods out there. I have the Super Sucker and it "definitely" enhances performance. Good luck!

I liked the idea of the FTRA and SSRA so much that I made my own which is even bigger.

Dropped a solid 10th in the 1/4.

It's been the best way to keep it air tight even if it's ghetto. I checked it the other day after being on there for over a year and it's still air tight.

well what was wrong the first time you put it on , i've never heard of anyone having problems with a FTRA/SSRA, you shouldnt have to tune anything. all your doing is adding more air in, the MAFT and PCM should have no problem with compensating for the new added air flow.

Very good mod IMO. I also dropped .2 and gained 1.5 mph.

Another vote for the FTRA. It can't hurt having cooler air being forced into the intake. Tuning is not needed with this mod. You may need to tweak your A/F ratio once you do headers though.

Well, everyone's car reacts differently to mods of course, but it felt like the car lost power, like it wasn't pulling like it used to. So who knows, I will put it back on during the header and new converter install and go from there. I was having a lot of power issues with the car back then anyway. Oh well, hopefully edit will take care of any problems.
