its worth the extra money for the coating it holds in the heat and makes the headers last much longer.

if you get the painted ones that paint will burn off within 50 miles and the headers will start to rust right away.

i have the same coated set up on my car and i have had the painted ones on a eclipse and the paint started to burn right at first start up and it smells like crap to lol.

imo get stainless headers. ceramic coated steel headers steel end up rusting out... just not quite as fast as the painted units. The coating chips easy from rocks hitting the collecters under the car. Look on ebay, good prices on stainless lt's, normally 270.00-400.00 for a decent set... If u want something name brand then speedtweakerz has hooker stainless lt's for 525.00 shipped!

I definitely recommend the coating. They will last for several years w/ the coating on the headers. The paint will flake off the uncoated headers and quickly rust. Stainless is always nice but is out of budget for most guys. Ceramic coating is the next best option for the average enthusiast modding their car.

I have a set of Pacesetters (from Texas Speed) that are coated and they have 175,000 + miles on them and they are not rusted at all...who ever says that they rust right away is incorrect...I've had these on the car now for 6 years and they still look good. The car is a daily driver.

Mine started rusting less than 6 months after I put them on the car. They're ungodly ugly now (couple WV and KS winters) 6 years later, but they're not leaking. Not that I'd recommend against them, just that rusting is bound to eventually happen, it'll just happen at different speeds based on different scenarios.

I don't know about painted ones but I've had my coated pacesetters for almost 2 years and zero rust. I guess it depends on the weather the car is driven in

I've seen pics of year old painted ones for sale in the classified section and they look like *** already. I'd go with ceramic for sure. And the Texas Speed Pacesetter/ORY combo is a great deal from a great company! Just bought it myself a few months ago.

You can find stainless headers that are not much more than painted/or ceramic if u look around! yes ARH and Kooks are pricey but there are cheapers ones out there that fit well and do the job! Ceramic coating is junk for a street car... been there done that!

I got a set of hooker ceramic coated LT's on my car right now that have less than 10k on them and they are surface rusted bad! The car sees no rain or snow and it's not a daily driver...

Sounds like you bought a bad set of headers to me..I have seen coated header last a very long time on numerous cars...in my case I've got 175,000 + miles over the last 6 years and they still look great with no rust on a daily driver in rain, shine, snow, or what ever the weather.

might be a problem with hookers headers then. I had a set of pacesetters on my old 96 383 lt1 car and they started showing little surface rust spots on them after 2 seasons, but they would clean up with a little polish. these hookers are **** tho, no helpin them... The undercarriage is as clean as the paint. Every other season I put my car up on jack stands and wipe it all down with degreaser... Im just **** about stuff like that... basically got brand new 13k mi car with 100k mi headers, atleast thats what it looks like lol. Im not changin them until they leak tho, hell with it!
