Bigger gap, gives the possibility for more power, and spark blow out.
And based on the fact that I am assuming you have h/c/i car, since you are running 12:1 cr and reving to 7k keep the gap smaller,
someone asking about something doesnt make them mentally retarded. if i built a 347, wouldnt u think i know that .035 is smaller than .040????
now, why would u keep the gap smaller?(i know what a gap is)
A narrow gap increases the likelihood that spark will occur, but results in a weaker spark. Conversely a wider gap increases the strength of the spark but increases the possibility spark will not occur. Occasional misfires can go undetected, but still result in reduced power. The idea therefore, is to run the widest gap that will fire reliably in a particular application. The widest gap you can get away with depends on factors such as compression ratio, whether you change plugs frequently or infrequently, etc. Thus, within the operating range of possible gaps established by the manufacturer, the "right" gap is largely subjective.
