Thanks for everyone's opinions! Keep it coming!
If thats the case then a stock catback w/ a cutout is about your only option... all catbacks are going to produce enough noise to wake up your 2yr old.

well if you're worried about "noise" I'd personally just get an 80 series muffler and have it welded in. 2 1/2 in and out. will look stock, wont be overly agressive with factory pipes but will still give you some flavor.

I know you said cat-back, but just consider...

Any aftermarket exhaust would probably have enough grunt at startup to wake up a 2yr old. Therefore, get a cutout in the I-pipe. When you want it to be loud, flip the switch...once your son is older/wakes up before you leave, get a catback.

I've been told that the Corsa catback is civil at idle. I have one for sale but it's new and a bit above your ideal price. Please PM if interested.

Your going to get more answers here than there are catbacks. If you want a lasting system, go stainless, Magnaflow.

Bummer. I guess I will have to hold off until I can do something different about waking up my kid. I leave at 4:30am or 5:30am every morning depending on the day of the week. So there isn't going to come a time that he gets up before I leave. Oh well, I guess lid and intake stuff first. I just want it to sound at least as good as my 04 GTO did when it was stock. These f-body stock exhausts really suck.

Buy some insulation for the garage, or just buy a catback and wake him up. After 2 months, he'll be used to it and sleep right through it. It will also give him the muscle car itch so when he gets older and he'll talk about the days when he got woke up due to his dads F-Body!

If your not doing Lt's, then go with the magnaflow, I had it and it was queit as could be at idle. I think you will be ok with that as long as you have stock manifolds and y pipe. gl. Brian

Or another option is slp powerflo which is what I have. my car is cammed, so mine is pretty loud, but again, if all you want is a cb. then look into it.

Dude, I'd love to pick up a Corsa. Corsa has been my favorite exhaust, hands down, over the years. Had one on my GTO and put one on my TBSS. I just can't spend that kind of money. If you want to do your good deed for the day and give me a smokin deal shipped to 87113, I'll certainly try to sell it to the wife...

My thoughts were that I could maybe do a LM2, then when and if I add LTs etc in the future, do the powerflo upgrade.

My completely stock exhaust with just a flowmaster muffler welded in was pretty loud. I don't know what it was because it was on the car when I bought it, but it was probably a common one like the 40 series. When you fired that up in the garage, it was pretty damn loud inside the house. I don't think any cat back is going to be quiet enough to not wake your son up. I think what might be more up your alley is a cutout. Super loud when you want it, super quiet when it needs to be through the stock muffler.

Edit: Oh I just re-read your OP. You don't want a cut-out, eh? Well I don't know what to say because I just don't see a quiet catback.

Hooker gives you a good amoutn of noise, but is still somewhat quiet. I say go with that + a cutout for when you want it to scream. Lots of noise, or lack there of, at the touch of a button.

For the absolute quietest (while flowing well) cat-back, check out the SLP Dual/Dual that came on the 345HP SS' and WS6's in 01 and 02. You can generally find them for $200 or less and they're stainless too.
