Unhappy Upgrade to a better exhaust or go for a cutout?

I recently reviewed the differences between getting a nice exhaust setup vs leaving it stock and adding in a cutout (undecided of manual or electronic). I'm also pushing toward a good aggressive sound and added performance. Without judgement based of price difference, which way should I go with and why?

depends on what your looking for and what stock catback you have. the cutout is cheap and effective, especially if you go the electric route. but you cant beat the sound of a great exhuast all the time over the temporary sound of the cutout.

Are runnin stock manifolds and cats? Then a good set up would be to remove the stock catback and and add a bullet muffler to the ypipe dumped before the axle. This will save you 40 lbs and be loud like you want.

and i have the muffler...it works for me... my car runs really strong.

QTEC cutout on a stock catback is the best of both worlds. Quiet on command. Loud and raucous, free flowing when you want. The cutout doesn't have a "tuned" sound quality to it, but it sounds mean, especially with a lopey cam at idle and/or at WOT. It will sound like *** at part throttle though.

If you want a "tuned" sound, go for a good flowing catback.
And then, there's duals, but that's another chapter.

i currently have 1 cutout in my y after the cats... now if i were to move it before the cats would there be a sound difference ? and is it possible to do with a stock y-pipe ?

So, you have one cutout currently in the "I" pipe is what you're sayin'?
Your cats quiet things down a bit. Just keep your cutout in the I pipe. No need to relocate it.

Which one would I need for my car I have a y-pipe and 3" pipe. Do you weld them in or do you use exhaust clamps?

Cutout is usually welded in the I pipe in the space just behind the passenger seat. There's a niche perfectly sized for it.
