Default Header Installation Issues

I'm putting on a set of headers and I'm having problems with what should be the easiest part of the whole install. The dipstick WILL NOT come out of the engine block! I took out the 15mm bolt that holds the bracket to the head, and pull as hard as I can, but it will not come out from the block. I've installed headers on LS1's before and the dipstick tube just popped out both times but this one is being impossible. There is nowhere to pry because the bracket is too flimsy, it just bends. Any ideas?

I had the same issue... I used a pair of angled needle nose and grabbed the base of the tube just above the block, gave it a twist and had a buddy pull from the top. For me too, this was the toughest (most annoying) part of my install.

haha getting it back in isn't too bad. Just fish down there and shove her in.

What we did is we hooked a ratchet strap to the bracket on the dipstick tube as close to the tube as possible so it wouldn't bend, and the other hook to the frame of the car. We then used wood under the strap so that the strap would be pulling straight up. We put as much force on the strap as we could but it still didn't yank it out, so we went under the car too and pried with a screwdriver also. It finally came out.

I ended up using needle-nose vice grips to grasp the base at as small an angle as possible to the dipstick, then tapped it out with a rubber mallet.
