Default Quick Open Headers Question

Okay so right now im running open headers with the stock exhaust manifold and cats. So my question is that will it hurt my engine at all? Like I mean I heard it can warp your exhaust valve but there is no proof it ever happening, and also if you look at it this way I have the y-pipe inlet 1 1/2 inch away from the cats outlet on both sides so it isn't completely "open"

Only reason why it have it open is because im getting a new I pipe cause mine is dented and there is a small slit from me running over rocks and replacing it tomorrow.

And here is my 2 cents on the valve warping from cold air. the cats heats up really hot so the theory of it sucking up cold air, wouldn't the air just heat up because it passes through the cats?

What is your guys input?

What? Headers and Exhaust manifolds are the same thing?

headers and exhaust manifolds 2 different things.

sounds like you already have your mind made up anyways.
probably wont damage anything if your just doing it for a day.

Actually, there is proof of valves warping on open stock manifolds, but as long as you have cats, you should be fine.

I have read before that the exhaust valves warping is caused by the engine running lean with headers causing the exhaust valves to heat up and when the fresh cooler air comes in it cause it to warp. I would run open headers.

I think its more of an issue with 2-stroke engines. Usually 4-strokes dont have the issues of that. People run open headers all the time. I personally dont think the car likes it and it runs worse but this is an opinion from my experience.
