No, the iridium is brittle and can break. You can carefully check the gap, if one is way off exchange it for another one.
If they're for an LS1 they should be at .040, they don't need to be at .060 like the originals.

Gap them only if you want to destroy the iridium tip off! Doh! Learned the hard way.

You can gap iridium plugs without any issue you would have to pretty much hit the tip with a hammer to break it.
All you do is check the gap, turn the plug over tap it on something hard with a small amount of force repeat until you have correct gap do it with only a small amount of force if you slam it down of course its going to smash down on the tip

In the event the gap is to small get small flat blade screw driver put it agaisnt the porcelin and just twist it slowly until the gap is correct.
Its better to just keep taping it slowly to get it to the correct gap as using the screw driver to open it up can be hard if your not used to gaping plugs, but really its not rocket science use small amount of force and you wont have any problems.
Ive gapped maybe 10-20 sets of irriums and probably 1000's+ sets of standard plugs and im yet to have to throw a sparkplug out.
