i searched and it says the fitments but is the ls2 going to bolt directly up to my 2000 trans am and would i have to use a ls2 thermostat? my pump is completely seized since last night the belt started squeeking like crazy than it stopped so i pulled to my shop and it was siezed the belt was slipping right over it so they sell the impeller but now i gues i have to replace the housing and everything as well ? is it worth getting a ls2 or just throw another stock one on from the dealer?

You can use the LS2 water pump from a GTO, but not from a Vette. There are two different LS2 pumps

Won't matter, and alot of the pumps come with a new thermostat

sorry for dragging up an old thread, but what exactly is the difference between the two ls2 water pumps, gto vs vette? im getting a brand new ls2 vette pump tmw for cheap and want to know if ill be able to use it, and if not why? thanks

I would bet it has to do with the pulley placement/size.

The offset on the pulleys are different. The Corvette LS2 pump obviously works with the Corvettes. They all have the same offset. The GTO LS2 pump has the same offset as the F-bodies. Allows you to use that pump on either the GTO or F-body.

I have just had the GTO LS2 pump fitted on my C5 Vette motor due to fitting the Fast 102 inlet & 102 PTM T/B, as long as you use the LS2 pump with the same coned shaped pulley as the LS1 you are sweet as
