What do you think??? How long does it take to install a power steering pump (C5)?
Is it difficult? GM is telling me 7.5hrs
AND to put 1-Belt at $40,
the pump at $100 plus labor to bleed the rack/pinion
they want all TOTAL... $900!!
Does this sound fair??

A C5 with active handling is kind of a pain. The only thing you cant do at home without a special tool is press the pulley on and off. If oyu take off the water pump you can remove the whole PS/alt bracket from the car and bring it somewhere where they can pull the pulley, swap the pump on the bracket (east to do w/o the pulley on there) and press it back on.
If you pull the pulley on the car and have active handling you have to remove the whole electronic brake control module which is a pain. I find it faster/easier to remove the water pump and alternator and remove the whole pump/bracket and fool with it on the bench..
But thats about right what the dealer is charging, you really dont have to do the bleeding procedure GM calls for, I have removed/replaced quite a fe C5 steering pumps and just did the old fill it and turn the wheels back and forth off the ground..
