belt noise question
belt noise question okay in my 97 blazer the belts were squeeking a bit on idle (not sure where it was comming from) when you reved it it went away.. being the grerat mechanc i am i smothered it in some spray "belt dressing stuff" immedately after doing this the squeak turned into a loud mix between squeak and a rubbing sound (not sure how to decribe it but kinda made you think the belts were slipping or something this happened at all rpms and got louder as you reved it but over all was many times louder than the orginal squeak ... i tried to remedy tis by holding a rag to the belt to wipe off and extra spray and then i dowsed the whole setup with wd-40 which made it run fine , for about 20 min by the next day the noise is back (not AS loud but still loud as hell and at all rpms) so i guess my guestion is what the hell can i spray on it to fix this ... should i use a silcon grease? whats wrong did i ruin the belts or what ... im pritty lost on this one
