Tips on headers/exhaust? So my '99 Z28 (m6) is pretty much stock, except for a lid and magnaflow catback.
I've been wanting to do LT headers and ory for a while now, and am trying to decide between the many options.
I've heard many conflicting stories about header brands, namely pacesetters.
Anything you'd recommend/avoid?
Any tips for install? Should I try to do this in the driveway or bring it in to a shop? If I take it in, what do you think a fair price would be?
(Some mechanic was trying to tell me that LTs and ory are a $2000+ job..)

I have pace setters. I like them. Fits great. Not the best quality but they do the job. The install is easy to do. There are a lot of "how to" threads on here for header installs
There are bad stories on everything, but in the end the choice is yours. I chose pacesetters ceramic headers and ory. I love em. fitment was great took around 3 hours with no cutting, grinding, or bending. and in the 3 hrs i also removed AIR ans EGR.
I have LPP LT's and o/r y. I really like them. The driver side hits the frame and rattles a bit. I've learned to ignore it. They're stainless steel and I got them 300 used. I paid a buddy 300-400 bucks to install them. He did a really good job and got it done in one day. I def would not pay over 500 bucks.

You might take a look at our TSP 1 7/8" headers, we have had great results with them on these cars. They act as a great building block for further modification, especially if you plan on stuffing a larger motor in the car at some point.
I have Pacesetter ceramics and an ORY and love them. Install went without a hitch. No steering knuckle removed or anything like that. They just slid right in and seem to be great quality. It was about a seven hour project for me though, mostly becasue I had a hell of a time getting the old manifolds out. If the car isn't your DD and can sit for a few days, it's definitley worth giving a try yourself. It's not that complcated and you can always ask for help on here if you run into a problem.
I have ceramic coated Toyota Racing (TRD) headers on my 2000 TA and they work great. So your right it just depends on what you like. Just make sure the tag is welded on good or it will vibrate and bug the hell out of you. So i had to griund my tags off completely.
IMO ceramic pacestters with tsp true duals through sweet thunders makes the best sound in a non cammed car.....i was worried about the install, but it was much easier than i thought.....the pacesetter suppiled bolts were too long, so i just re-used my factory ones.....i researched this till it drove me crazy, but it was well worth it....i get mad compliments all of the time, it will only get better when the 233/239 comes....good luck

I bought the cheapest Pacesetters you can get (painted) and have had zero issues with them. The install was a breeze and it was my first mechanical endeavor that I did on my own. I do reccomend having an extra set of hands present for random things though. Just take your time, and you'll be fine. Pretty straight forward what you need to do.
They build NASCAR products now in the USA and a friend of my parents works for Toyota and he built me some heads in the Nascar shop and stampped them and sent them to me.
These header companys screw you soooo bad.
Actual cost for my heads for material was about $90 bucks and coating was 18.50 each. Labor was about 2 hours at $75 each.
I paid 296.33. with shipping to my door but I gave the stickers away.
