Default To weld or not to weld

I've searched and fond nothing on the topic so.. Currently I have my hooker cat-back fully welded together instead of using those shitty clamps.. now when I install my headers (ceramic coated supercomp hooker flange-less) and ory (tsp) I was planing to have it all welded together ... So I guess my ? Is.. Do they want ppl to use clamps n flanges so the exagust will have some play instead of being for a lack of better words "solid" .. Or am I just overthinking things?

If you ever plan on taking it apart. EVER, don't weld it. Use the band clamps, not the u-bolt ones. It won't leak, and you can take it apart as many times as you need.

If you use the clamps, it might be a good idea to use some muffler cement on all the connecting areas so it doesn't leak.

If it were up to me I'd weld it though. Nothing is more annoying than the TINIEST leak in your exhaust just flapping away.

Was thinking the same thing before I re-do my exhaust, Id suggest not welding only because it'll save you some headache down the road if you ever need to repair or get to anything under the car where the exhaust would get in the way. You yourself or if you take it to a shop can just unclamp the exhaust and avoid having to cut and re-weld your exhaust each time its in the way.

I've used band clamps/u bolt clamps and have had it all welded. It seems like every time i've used a clamp its leaked or came apart over a speed bump. I'd suggest using a 3 bolt flange at each end of the header and a 3 bolt flange in the intermediate pipe and have it all welded.

Just dont weld your y-pipe to your header collectors.. If the collectors are 3" then your y should slip over them & use the stepped style band clamps.
