Need help with oil pan question

Need help with oil pan question What is the thing on the side of the oil pan for my ls1 it bolts to the side of the oil pan & it has a small tube kinda thing on it with a whole in it right above where the filter goes? I'm ready to fire my car up & don't know what this is..heres a pic of what I'm talkin about

Oil level sensor is on the PASS side. The piece you are talking about is a pressure port. If its open it will spray oil out. The piece that comes stock has a hole in it but is casted solid down in the piece. It is common to drill through the cast, and tap for an aftermarket oil pressure gauge. However, the way it is stock, it is sealed.
