What is the EVAP for? and can i get rid of it?

What is the EVAP for? and can i get rid of it?

I want to toss the connector/device that hooks on the the driver side neck of the intake. And cap off the hardened line. ( the device im talking about has the red wiring harness connector... It is the "other" fuel type line with the green vest valve wrapped in heat shielding.

Is it ok to do so... Sticker says its for EVAP/Charcoal Canister thing... not sure what it does. But my car is drag race only so I wa hoping to clean up the engine bay some more...

To catch gas vapors. You dont need it but its nice. Ever noticed on a carbed car you can smell gasoline? Thats what your car will smell like with out evap.
