well put it to you this way...my stock oil pump failed at 50k. i bought the car at 47k from an old man who had it from day 1 back in 2000. he never put anything other than mobil 1 synthetic and never beat on the car. i also put mobil 1 synthetic in the car. annnnd the pump just failed...on a BONE stock motor, with lt's and a lid. the melling is a completely aftermarket design, stock style but CNC machined and anodized body, bigger gears, bigger ports, heavier contruction with high volume out put and the option to swap springs to make it high volume/high pressure.
stock trunion...uncaged needle bearings, cheap construction. will they hold up? yes they will, i am still on my stock rockers with h/c/e. however people have had bad luck in the past and it's only 140 bux for cheap insurance and knowing you wont have an issue. the beauty about it is you can have it done any time, but cam swap is the best time to do it. or maybe the next time you have the vc's off, or when you do a head swap. i will be upgrading mine very soon, along with lifters.
