Exhaust Dilemma Ok, here's my problem. I have MACs with a catted Y and an ATR exhaust (simple over-the-axle catback with a muffler and dual/single outlets.) My car is slammed and I have no ground clearance, and I have destroyed the driver-side cat because of scraping it. I had an ORYP on it, but it smoked so badly that I had to put the catted on.
If I put the ORYP back on (which will give me more ground clearance) and splice a 3" Carsound cat onto the main pipe of my catback (right after the Y), 1) will the 3" carsound cat fit on the 3" pipe? 2) will the carsound cat work well enough to clean the smoke out of the exhaust? I know it flows well, but does it work?

the better answer is to fix the cause of the smoke, I have MAC headers too. your smoke is caused by oil consumption, caused by increased vacume in your intake pulling oil through the PCV system. Order youself a Greddy replica catch can for 50 bucks, do the LS6 pcv system for about 60 bucks, and that should fix your smoke problem allowing you to run your Off Road Y pipe. and in the end will be cheaper and your car will sound hella-betta. Just my .o2 cents

I know I consume a lot of oil, but I don't think it's the PCV. I had a catch can and it didn't pick up much. I think it's either valve seals or piston rings, neither of which I'm really willing to chase. The car runs strong, and I'd rather not have to tear into it.
