Thumbs up Installed my Kooks headers today!

Man, that went a lot easier than I was expecting! Everything came off and went on real easy--it took about five hours from start to finish for just the headers. It was me, my brother, and our buddy. We did it on a lift, which made it a lot easier. No grinding, jacking of the motor, or disconnecting of the steering linkage at all. They just slid right in.

I've read how well these headers tuck up under the car, and it is true. Actually, they fit so well that I will have to get a custom bend between the drivers header and the cat, as it is up high enough that the cat will interfere with the floorboard if it comes out straight.

Now all I need is to find a shop to do the Y, and it will be good to go! Plenty of time left for that before the weather turns nice though.

Chris

PS--regarding the fitment.... We had everything off the car and were ready to put the headers up, so I sat down to clean off the bolts. My buddy grabbed a header to see how it would fit, a minute later he says, "hey, check this out." I get up and see that he had the drivers side up in position and I say, "yeah, that was the hard one".

I am looking to get some header in the near future. Make sure you post about how they perform. I am considering Kook's even though they are a little more $$$.

Ive got the Kooks headers, they are REALLY great, BUT I also had the Hooker longtubes and cant complain about those, I would buy the Stainless steel hooker headers that just came out if they are cheaper than the Kooks, but if they are close to the same price get the 1" 7/8 stepped to 1" 3/4 and be done with it.

Thanks 770boy I'm trying to get as many opinions as possible. I don't want to make a mistake I regret. Would you get the stainless over the coated?

Hey ZR: We recommend any stainless header over mild steel coated.. You can read an article about Stainless Steel headers here.

If anyone needs some information, has any questions or wants the best pricing on Kooks give me a shout.

Yeah, Matt will help you out. He was very helpful in making sure I got my headers how I wanted them.

ZR--I will definately be posting dyno results on these headers within about 4-5 weeks. The exhaust will consist of the Kook's headers, 3" Magnaflow cats, 2.5" or 3" Y pipe, and stock catback/muffler. It should give a good idea of what the headers can do minus the differences in catbacks.
