Default Hi Flow Cats

Is it true that the material in any high flow cat will break down eventually and make the car become louder and deeper over time??

Ceramic will break apart rendering the cat useless, and will restrict flow.

Ceramic has a tendency over time to degrade. I don't have any experience with tsp's cats, so I don't want to comment on those. If you were to get metal spun cats, you shouldn't have any issues.

I hope some of this helps.

Magnaflow Hi-Flow Heavy Metal cats part # 99659HM absolutely AMAZING cats. They flow 80% over stock AND they are OBDII compliant.

ALL cats will eventually go bad at some point but there not short term wear items so I wouldnt worry about it

True, however Heavy Metal will outlast ceramic by a LONG SHOT! And at about the same price for either or, seems to me the choice is obvious......

I have had the Random Tech high flow cats for 80k-90k and dont seem to have any problems. I have ordered new headers and cats so I will see just how bad they look in the near future.

High flow cats are typically metal substrate construction (see pic above) which keeps its shape/form and doesn't crack/fall apart, so there is no possible blockage that can result, regardless of the catalyst burning off.
