Default LM1 to dual/dual

Hey guys. I have a LM1 that I'm about to take off and replace with a dual/dual from my buddies 02 SS. I know the dual/dual flows pretty well but should I expect any significant power loss? I expect to lose a few hp but hopefully nothing I feel. Thanks guys.

Shouldnt notice any power loss but why do you want to switch?

I like my LM but I also really like a subtle tone like the dual/dual has.

Really? I think the lm sounds alot better. Dual/Dual with LT's and a cut out would be pretty sneeky though.

I'm definitely not changing it because it's too loud and I don't like it, just moving to silent and violent lol.

I wouldnt expect any power loss if anything a few HP, pretty much all the catbacks for these cars have flow through mufflers so it affects sounds, but doesn't really impact performance as far s muffler/no muffler

Thanks guys. Yeah Bob, that's another thing too; I'm cam'ing it soon and would rather put the dual/dual on than cats.

I added a Magnaflow 3" bullet muffler in the I-Pipe and was surprised how much it quieted things down so that is another option.

I swapped my LM1 for a DUAL DUAL because with my H/C set-up...the RASP was unbelievable. I didn't like driving it in the morning because it was just too loud, would wake all my retired neighbors and it's kinda overkill, not necessary! I didn't notice any power loss and at WOT, it seems just as loud as before, or damn close.

I faintly remember what it sounded like driving my friend's car with it because he put another catback on it soon after his cam install, but I remember liking it. Thanks!

I'm just ready for that crisp but mellow sound; plus I have a 6LE CME valance and some OE CME tips I'm putting on at the same time.

^^The extra piping of the CME really makes the exhaust sound smooth out in a good way as well...

I got mine from my best friend for free. He installed a LM with a Manaflow bullet and gave this to a friend of ours that ended up not needing it as well. You can find them complete and uncut in the $300 range on tech classifieds sometimes, but they're getting harder to come by.

My brother has Factory Dual Dual on his 02 35th SS. He, so very badly, wants to invest in a GMMG Setup. I told him if he eventually does go thru with the swap that I want his Dual Dual for my Firebird.

I currently have LM1 on my car too. So I'm very curious to know how you like the swap and whether or not you feel a difference in throttle response & overall power between the two.

Please keep us updated.

I sure will. I had a GMMG and loved it but I wanted TD's so I sold it, put the duals on, hatred them, and traded them straight-up for the lm1.
