Default Studdering problem due to O2 sensor

My car is an 01 z28 i have long tubes and have put thousands of miles on it before it developed a stuttering problem. the service engine light came on and was for sensor 1 bank 2. i unplugged it and it immediately began to run just fine. the service engine light turned off after a few miles of driving and has not turned back on since and have driven hundreds more miles. I have pulled the harness all the way to the top of the engine bay to check it out. It has been extended with butt connectors and everything looks good no crossed wires nor any showing wire that could be crossed up or shorting out.

Has anyone ever had this problem before and what in the hell have you done to fix it? or dose any one have any idea what is going on?

my O2s are bad but car runs just fine. if studdering goes with the O2 removal then just get a new one OR swap it with one of the rears and see if that helps. rears and fronts are same only wire length defers so id check from there. gd luck.

It stutters when you ease into the gas and if you go wot it will stutter for a sec then clear out and run like nothings wrong.

running rich!!! tune it and studdering will go away. 02 is trying to make the engine run efficient, by running rich the 02 sensors are trying to adjust fuel and its not working cause putor is getting mixed messages.

my car has the same problem! i replaced all O2 sensors, plugs, and wires and the check engine light still blinks, it still runs rich, and studders when i ease on the gas like you said.. so a tune up will definitely fix it??

Zac, I think he meant "get a tune" not "do a tune up" if I am not mistaken.

Ok I agree a tune will prob help the issue but still dose not explain why it runs like crap and the service engine light comes on but when I unplug the sensor it turns off and the car runs fine rich but fine. It should be throwing a code for the sensor not reading should it not?

If you have replaced the o2 sensor and it is still throwing the code that may not be your problem. If it was the problem then drive it for a bit and the comp should clear the code itself or plug a code reader into it and clear it manually. If you do not have a code reader stop buy your local auto zone and they should be able to run the obd2 codes and clear it. If the service engine light comes back on you have another problem.

My problem is that it throws a code for a bad o2 and I have it unplughd and need driving a lot and its not throwing a code for it even being unpluged.
