i dont plan on doing heads/cam on this motor cuz it has such high mileage (218xxx) so i dont think it will make any difference going from 2.75 to 3in

The ws6/ss is 2.75. The base exhaust is 2.5. Nothing you would notice.

I was just talking to a reputable site sponsor about this very topic. he said unless you are doing extensive bolt on mods, a cat back is only worth 3-5hp. Not the 18+ that the manufacturer claims. If you are like me and just looking for a little more tone than the stock muffler gives out, just put a muffler on it and be done. Save the other 300-500 bucks and put it in something else. Oh, and don't waste your money on aluminized mufflers, they will rot off in 2-3 years. Get a good ole SS muffler from Magnaflow, couple that with some Corsa clone tips and you will be golden. That is what I'm gonna do.

I've posted the same thing several times in the past and it was disputed by some posters, even though I did my online research and after getting opinions from several places knowledgeable in exhaust systems. Like you said, save the money and spend it on something like good shocks where you will see a HUGE improvement.

If you have a limited budget I'd suggest to check out the FS section. I just sold a mint Magnaflow cb for $185. There's plenty of guys like me who upgrade parts often and want some money back to offset new parts.
