Default Dumped @ header no X or H, just mufflers???

Anyone tried adding an adjustable tuned muffler right off of the header, one on each bank? Would have no X or H pipe, just a bung on each for the 02 sensors, no cats. Got a sound clip? How unbalanced will the exhaust flow be without tying the banks together?

You'll want make sure you exhaust exit is 10 times your collector exit diameter away from your front O2 sensors so they don't get any false readings. For a 3" collector you'll want at least 30", 3.5" collector you'll want 35".

I don't know how it is going to sound yet as I am waiting on my harness to arrive to fire the new motor up.....But I went with 2 Flow master 10s

Setup it LTs/short piece of pipe, Flowmaster dumped

I will post a video soon

It will be LOUD though I can assure you of that.... some say not much louder than a dumped x pipe true dual setup...but I can't vouch...

I have Great ground clearance though!

I didn't find many sounds clips either...

I went straight pipes on my stock car with knock off chamber 10s dumped, and felt like i was loosing a bit of power, till I added a crossover H pipe. Im back on my stock y pipe due to scraping issues.

lol that's an understatement. If you're not familiar with your local police your going to get to know them because they're going to pull you over all the time.

You will lose power by doing this unless you are running a FI engine.

some say you will loose low end power...however I have a stalled auto so that helps...actually everything I have seen has gained over a X pipe on the top end...

Don't care about it being loud as I live in a small town and went to school with most of the officers... And the car gets driven less than 1500 miles a year...

Also my buddy drove this same setup around for 2 years as his daily driver and never got pulled over once and sounded great... That was on an LT1 haven't heard it on a LS setu yet

I think Pro Stock John ran a similar set up using dynomax bullets a few years back on "pinkenstien" It was a purpose built drag car that was supposed to be run on the show pinks. Try searching for that. I know there was a ton of pics & videos

I ran bullets straight off my LT's for awhile. Seemed quieter than an open offroad y-pipe and definitely a deeper better tone. Also seemed to run fine but I don't have any dyno numbers to back that up. Drove it on the street all the time, wasn't too bad unless you were WOT. Never got hassled by the cops either FWIW.

Just because it's loud doesn't mean it will sound good. Also I bet the fumes will be horrible

That is the main reason I went this route....it is impossible to find system that works well with my BMR Trak Pack.... Either your forced to a Y pipe or your ground clearance is nothing... I also have a Nitrous Drive shaft that takes up more real-estate than the stock one so I was even more limited....

I'm currently running dynomax bullets off the collectors but only cuz I have yet to find a shop in stl that can weld up my universal true dual kit (I would get tsp kit however ebay heads need an adapter for d/s collector). Personally, it sounds really good with the exception of the rattles lol neighbors don't really like it tho. Fumes are harsh on cold starts. I've been throwing codes for my 02 heaters which kinda sucks

OMG, I've neglected my own thread. Sorry about that.

Ended up using (2) 18" bullets per side (4) total, directly off of the header. @ first, tried using the tuneable inserts off of (1) 18" bullet per side, but it dumped right below the doors & smogged us out @ lights w/ windows or top down. So, scrapped the tuneable inserts & added the second pair of bullets. This extended it back passed the doors. No more gagging on exhaust gasses @ lights. It sounds bad-***.

Note: I run OL MAF (EFI Live software, self tuned), no 02 feedback to the PCM. Just a wide band for tuning. 99luZ28, thanks for the front 02 comment. It's good information. Those whom use them in their tune, most people, will need to know this.

Thanks to everyone else for the comments, as well.

Two friends of mine had this setup on their LT1s. They were just loud as hell, no sound or definite tone to it, just noise. IMO, **** that.
