Default Catch can ~ Brown oil?

I had made a catch can out of pvc pipe and today I went to empty the oil and from a brown milky oil in it. What the heck is that? Its conected to the pcv valve. I changed my oil in my car and the oil that drained from the crank case was normal. Any ideas on what this could mean?

Sorry > first part of that makes no sense. It should read > I went to empty the catch can and found brown milky oil in it.

If you do a search you might find that a few people have gotten moisture in their cans. The moisture may have mixed with your oil causing a brown sludge in the can. I have no personal experience with this but I have read a few post about moisture in the can and on oil caps. I think that if your engine oil was fine then you are OK.

I have that too....the engine builds up some condensation inside it when it cools off. Then when you start it up again it's sucked out of the crankcase by the PCV system and trapped in the can along with the oil. Nasty looking stuff huh?
