Default Quiet Replacement muffler needed

hey guys i'm going to order me a qtp cutout for my trans am as soon as they open today. i currently have the muffler that came with the car on there..its aftermarket but i dont know what kind. Needless to say its pretty loud especially with the vert. This has been ok but now that i am getting a cutout i figured i could get me a good flowing aftermarket replacement that wouldnt drown me out just cruising and when i want the sound ill just open up my handy qtp. ( i just need the stock style single in dual out) just wanted to know if there was one available fairly cheap that still flowed pretty good..without the noise. i dont want it super quiet or anything just dont want it to drown me out. if not ill just stick with what i got..just an idea
thanks matt

im gonna bring this one back up, im serious about getting a quiet muffler..the flowmaster thats on it is too loud for me when i just want to cruise, especially with the 4000 stall and its always up in the rpm's.. the local muffler shop has some stock replacements but i was wondering if anyones had any exp. with an aftermarket brand..power is NOT a factor..i dont care if it looses 30 horse,,its all about being quiet..that is why i got a elec.cutout for when i want to let it rip..thanks everybody

Dynomax Super Turbo. A guy at work has one and it's about as quiet as you'll get without getting a stock muffler. Basically same loudness as stock, just a little deeper.

The flowmaster that is on your car is probably the most quiet muffler other than the stock muffler. The stock muffler would be your only choice if the Flowmaster is too loud.

Flowmaster... 80 series... quiet? That's a new one to me... Sure wasn't quiet when I had one. Flowmaster is probably one of the loudest.

Seriously, a Super Turbo is probably your best bet unless you have easy access to a stocker.

My Flowmaster is a 80 series and it is fairly quiet but does sound ok. I have heard loud flowmaster's but they were not 80 series.

I still have an SLP Dual Dual muffler for sale if your interested. $40 I just want to get rid of it. It fits what your looking for; quiet while cruising, sounds very good and deep, not loud except at WOT. PM me if your interested.

A dual/dual for $40 is by far your best option. Very quiet and excellent power. $40 is a good price...

I have done flowmaster 80 series on a LS1 and a LT1 T/A, they were pretty loud. I put the whole Hooker catback on my current LS1 car and it is not much if any louder than stock from the driver. It sounds much better than the stock system from outside the car. I've never install a Hooker Aerochamber muffler on stock exhaust but guess it would produce similar results.

I would recommend the muffler from the Hooker catback. It's only a little louder at idle and cruise than stock but sounds much better. I've heard it gets a bit louder with headers, but still no where near the loudmouth, etc. It also flows well, so you don't have to give up much HP for the sound you want.

My Flowmaster is insanely quiet... compared to GMMG, Magnaflow, SLP, duals, it's the quietest of them all, even with my LT's

Just say no to Flowmaster. I had a Dynomax 17221 welded in place of the 80 series Flowmaster I had, with interesting results. It is just about as loud outside the vehicle, but it is only a little louder than stock inside the vehicle. The Flowmaster on the other hand was very loud inside the vehicle.

I say go for the SLP dual/dual muffler. I just bought a complete catback from a member and its exactly what I wanted. Fairly quiet with a deeper tone than stock at idle and normal cruising but has a little sound when you open it up. I think you would like it, plus its supposed to flow pretty well for a quiet system.

damn, im all torn up now, everyone has different opinions...i know my flowmaster on it now is loud..i want the new muffler to be quiet..i dont want it to be loud when i stomp it, or anything..i want it to sound like a dang geo metro.. i usually drive around with the cutout open, but when i want to go on trips or take long drives, i want to be able to shut the cutout and just cruise along without drowing out the radio.. maybee i should have my exhaust redone and place my cutout right before my muffler, so i can weld a bullet or something where my cutout is to help with the sound..

The SLP dual/dual is the best flowing quiet catback made. The muffler would be perfect for you, not a whole lot of sound at idle and cruise and little change when you go WOT
