When I was forced to drive easy for 500 miles to break in my new gears, I got 18.5 mpg in the city with 411's in a 12 bolt, cam and drag radials with under 20psi. I was stunned. When I was just bolt-ons I got 29 highway.

Ya know guys, I'm not real sure how the hell I came up with that number?! Because I did it just now and got 16.7, my bad! haha
Everything I've read says these cars have a 15.5 gallon fuel tank.

IIRC... The tank is 15.5 then you have the hose fill, etc that give you the extra

My bolt on Trans Am(stock converter) got between 16 and 19 in the city depending on how I drove it.
I haven't put many miles on my Z28 but im sure its only about 14-16 because of the 4000 stall.

If I drove just city, I wouldn't get 20. Prob more like 17-18.
City/Highway combined is about 21.5-22mpg lately. That's prob about 70% highway. And "city" means different things to different people, depending on where you live. To some people "city" means downtown LA where you sit at every light for 20 minutes, for others it means running around town and hitting the occasional stop sign of traffic light.
And giving miles per tank is meaningless. Too many variables. Do you fill your tank when it hits 1/4, or when the light comes on, or when it's running on fumes? Only way to do accurate mpg is to start with a full tank, then at the next fill up divide miles traveled by how many gallons you put in your tank.
You can't just divide miles traveled by the size of the fuel tank, because you don't drive it till it's empty, do you?

my old bolt on a4 car got 24 with an 80/20 mix of highway/city. i actually made 3 1/8 mile passes on that tank, too. it got ~18 with almost all city driving and the converter rarely locking up. this car consistently went 12.29-12.25 @ 110+.
the ta in sig is very stock. with a lid and catback it was getting mixed 24 mpg and 31 on the highway. since then i've removed air/egr and added an ory, now it gets between 12-16 hahah. i think it needs a tune. not sure of power, but at full weight it trapped 109-110 with the lid and catback @ 2500' da.

I haven't checked since I did the lid/exhaust/tuner on my car, but I'm guessing it's the same as what it used to be. I used to get 24-26 with mixed driving, around 30 when it's mostly highway, and around 21-23 when it's mostly city. A LOT better than my truck now that it has mud tires on it, so I can't complain at all
