Boomtubes are meant to be functional. Unless that extends all the way to the balance tube (H or X pipe) on the exhaust, it's merely a fancy exhaust tip. There are lots of companies selling "boomtube" exhaust tips.

I was able to locate a set of boomtube plans, that i scaled down to fit the dimensions I wanted. That how I made them, now mine will have a spiral flow muffler in between the "tip" and x pipe. To help quite the car down a bit. As for tips I couldnt find any.

too each his own. I do not like the way it looks but it is your car. Post up sound clips when you are done. It does look a little low to me though.

what about just using these....http://www.stainlessworks.net/produc...-id-inlet.html

this got me thinking using the tsp dual system and putting pipe from the resonator to the tips on the side instead of turndowns....?

The only problem going from the resonator out the side would be clearence between the LCA's. I have the TSP system. My thought are take the system off, remove the 2 pipes from the back of the X-pipe and weld the mufflers there. Then have a slip connections right into the pieces i am making. I had my car in the air the other day setting this up and getting measurements. Then the flow out of the x-pipe will be a straight line, the less twists and turns the better I think. As for using the oval piping, go for it. I used the round because with all the crap i have in my garage, I was able to adapt the 3" round into the boomtube with 2 pieces of sheet metal and looking inside the pipe it looks good.

LOL thanks again babbage1109. I guess i get to be the test subject. The TSP kit goes back just past where the unibody turns upwards to go over the rearend. I would say maybe 4-6" past that. If you have ever looked at the kit though it can by modified like i said in my last post and it will run straight off the x-pipe and out. I had to cut the exhaust at a different angle (12.5* I think) in order for it to be parallel with the side skirts. But when i had it mocked up from the lowest point i had just under 3" of ground clearence. But when i modify the x-pipe and put some rear suspension goodies on, I should have around 3.5" of clearence. I think that will be plenty for my purpose.

Looking good man! Does it hang any lower than the tsp system already does on our cars? Interested to see how it sounds. Think this just might be my next project too haha

This setup doesnt hang as low as the TSP true duels does. From my measuring this is 5/8" higher than the lowest part of the TSP system.

O1REDSSA4-I read the link you put on true dules. The only think i've seen wrong is the guy satted he runs GUTTED cats. This is not good and has been proven by me and a few friends. When you have a cat that is gutted it causes an exspanshion chamber in the exhaust and loses power. Back in the day everyone used to gut the cats on the 5.0 mustangs. I did it too and noticed my stang slower. We did this on a 99 camaro as well, ran it for times then gutted the cats. He already had headers and off roads wating to be installed so this would not hurt. Once again, the camaro lost over 2 tenths in the 1/4mi. Even on my old 5.0 i felt a loss and a return when i got a proper h pipe. Just get an off road pipe and keep the cats in the garrage.

I was able to try them out today and WOW. I think that they sound great. I slid them over my exhaust that currently on the car and fired it up to hear them, didnt get any vid. The exhaust mellowed out in tone and has lower rumble that sounds great.

Video! Video! Video! Wanna hear how it sounds man! I'm really thinking about doing this to give it more of an older "side pipe" mellow but rumbly sound. Let's hear it!

I pulled the engine from my car to start rebuilding it. So hopefully I will finally post a video of the exhaust system in a few weeks once the engine and those parts are installed.

What mufflers did you have w/ The TD's? Was it DynoMax bullets by any chance? That last section should be in one piece.
