Default running open headers

I recently installed a set of pacesetter headers, and didnt buy the y-pipe for fear of fitment issues, and I can get it done cheaper at a exhaust shop. My questions is am I ok to run open headers with a piecie of 3" pipe 20" long behind the headers, without having to worry about damaging the engine, I only have to drive it about 30 miles, but it is going to be around 40 degrees the day I have it scheduled to be done, is there anything to worry about?

Thanks

You should be fine with the pipe on the ends of the headers. The pipe will allow your O2s to get a proper reading and prevent the computer from thinking its lean and dumping a lot of fuel in.

I don't have headers but I've always assumed you can run right out of the headers as long as you aren't driving too far.

I use to run straight off the headers at the track. It didn't take long before the O2's were fried. I now have a 12"x3" pipe to a bullet muffer to a short turn down. No problems.

Like said earlier, you'll be fine with a 20" pipe - at least for a short time until the cops catch you .
