Default Just got a full exhaust

Last night I bought used edelbrock longtubes with a custom 3.5 inch Y, manual cutout right after the Y, and a dynomax bullet muffler with a turndown that is dumped right before the axle, all for $350. What do you guys think of the Custom Y? and from what the guy told me, he said that I had to bang up the floor board to make the bullet fit and not hang so low. I'm not a fan of banging **** up on my car so is there any way i could run the bullet?

That whole setup is friggin huge!! What are those primaries? 1 7/8ths or 2"?? The Y pipe will certainly not be a restriction haha.

I would expect some nice power gains, especially past 4K RPMS, it should sound nice and loud as well..

Honestly, I would have paid $500 for that setup if it fits right, you got a hell of a deal!

and yes it is 1 3/4" stepped to 1 7/8, kinda happy about the flange that they welded on the collector and y Pipe, should make the install real easy with some home made gaskets and silicone.

trans_am - thanks for the input, I will now look into getting the new style bullet.

Pretty nice snag. The bullet though to me is funny, cut-out before and turn down after... does that mean you save 4 decibels when the cutout is closed? It's not like a dynomax bullet is going to drastically change the tone.

Though if you are lowered at all I think you might need massage some areas, but it's still an awesome pickup.

hahah yeah exactly what i was thinking.....but for sure i won't leave it dumped, i live in cali ....I have a crappy flowmaster, should i just use this instead to tone it down? or should i just leave it with the bullet and extend the piping all the way out the rear?

If you extend it from the bullet on back then I'd just keep the cutout where it's at, maybe even going on and getting another muffler to sit there that gives better clearance and maybe changes the not a little bit.

If you do go with a new muffler over that dynomax, I'd even think about getting an electric cutout (since you got a hell of a deal on the exhaust) and you can flick a switch to go from LOUD to nice whenever you want.

Yeah that things is going to be LOUD LOUD LOUD. I mean, some people want that but the cutout isnt going to make much difference either with that setup. A few years ago I was testing different mufflers off my ORY to find one I liked the sound of and man, they were all really loud, especially being right under the cabin of the car. Id run it out the back of the car or add another chambered muffler or magnaflow or something, esp out in **** car land, I mean CA; they will be after you in no time thats for sure.
Bolt it up, start it and see how you like it and go from there but at the least Id run it out the back and that way you can position the muffler(s) where they fit best so they wont get all scraped and beat up.

Get a magnaflow, probably quiet it down a lot. I'm kinda freaked out how much the driver side bend is on the y pipe. Doesn't seem like it would bolt up to the motor to me

what kind of muffler is best to quiet it down a lot? I'm going to go ahead and buy a 3" electric cutout so i can be obnoxiously loud or quiet when i want to.

Magnaflow will make it dailydriver friendly then have the cutout to be obnoxious and scare the ponys
