short story long: put in a patriot cam. all of a sudden my 20k mile ls6 clutch couldn't hold the power past 4k rpm in any gear. install monster clutch. after 6 months of clutch chatter, decided to install poly motor mounts. after 9 hours of installing poly motor mounts in a garage where the average outdoor temp is approx 100 degrees (at night!), i acquire a terrible vibration past 65 mph. (mounts pretty much fixed the clutch chatter...whew!) I could feel the vibration from the rear end. just to check the easiest things first, I get the rear tires road force balanced (nitto drag radials on 17 x 11 TTII's). tire store: "right tire is bad, didn't pass the balance, it's shaped like and egg, you need a new tire!" I try it any way....pretty damn perfect up to 90 mph.
However, past 100 mph, if I drop in into 4th and go wide open throttle then there is a pretty bad vibration. i have springs in the front and "heater hose mod" lowering in the rear and the new mounts did raise the mounting point of the engine. so i'm gonna get the drive shaft/u-joints checked and get the pinion angle checked.
don't you hate it when you change one thing, and you have to change/fix 5 others at a result?
but...a brand new grand sport corvette owner tried to show me how fast he was the other day, and he looked pretty shocked when my 11 year old POS trans am was bumper to bumper with him
just venting...
