I hear all the talk about how loud true duals are over the cat back system ,but how much power gained from a catback to true duals , (Not trying to hijack just putting this question out for the other who wanna know too).

I have true duals with no cats on my car and I love it. At idle I don't think its much louder than a car that has a ORY. No rasp at all. I haven't scraped anything with them, but then again my car hasn't been lowered yet.

I vote catback with an E cutout under passenger seat. Never seen a true dual setup I really liked on these cars. Hate the under the axel ones and the two pipes going down the pass side ones. I really don't think they sound better either.

True d's or a catback is alot of money for no real power. a cutout is low cost and you can open or close it when ever you want. They gain as much or in my cars case 30hp when open. way more then a cat back or true d's will gain. get a cutout and spend the saved cash on something extra.

I have had Longtubes/ORY/LMI and Longtubes/X-Pipe/Dumps. The overall volume is not much different. The quality of the sound is where all the difference is. A nice dual system has a much cleaner sounds. Muffler choice is where you can adjust your tone and volume. Most duals are loud beasue space is at a premium, and most people run a bullet style muffler for clearance, which are almost all fairly loud. Ultimately, a cutout will not produce the same gain as duals, due to the scavagening effect of the crossover. Is there a definite possiblilty that it will be a small difference, absolutely, will it exist, absolutely.

I've heard the kooks TD system in person with hi-flo cats and it's not loud at all, even with a high 230's cam. You can't even hear it over my Kooks LT's, hi-flo cats, and GMMG.

Remeber pitch is important as well. Low frequencies will not seem as loud.

Ive heard true duals and it's just sex. Specifically the TSP's. The weight loss over a stock exhaust i hear is alot? Can anyone elaborate on that? Powerwise catbacks are garbage.

LOL Back Pressure. Oh boy, I love hearing this. I can not wrap my head around how restricting your exhaust flow will actually give you "better low end". Id love to be enlightened on this.

Refer to link below. Isn't the original link i read about exhaust scavenging but it'll do.

I could carry my dual system easily with one hand. Most of them are less than 6 feet long from collector to dumps. I could say the rear section (over axle pipe, muffler, tails) of my stock exhasut weighed more.

That's exactly why id choose True duals aswell, nice drop of weigh over a FULL catback or OEM with cutouts.
