Default dual inlet muffler acts as crossover?

I am working on a engine conversion in a 98 bmw m3, ls1,t56, thunder racing trtorq cam, 1-7/8 long tubes, was going to run dual 2-1/2 inch. But only room for a single muffler so I was leaning towards a magna flow as i like the sound of the straight through designs. Is it pointless to run a h pipe right before the muffler? Will the dual inlet/outlet muffler flow allow proper scavenging like the hpipe?

Depends on the internal construction of the muffler as to how good it will work in your application.

They do make X mufflers but it's probably to far back to really scavenge properly. If you can show a underbody pic with a tape measure as a reference , I can probably point you in the right direction.

A Magnaflow #11386, 4" x 9" oval body muffler with the Tru-X Perforated Core would probably fit under the drive shaft.
