98 Engine & Trans harness with a 2002 ecu?

98 Engine & Trans harness with a 2002 ecu? Hi!
i have used the search button and looked and looked and didnt find the correct answer. Thank you for your time in advance!
i have a car with the 1998 ls1 engine harness from a 98 vette. The motor threw a rod and now i found 2002 pontiac firebird ws6 engine i wanted to put in the car.
I have the 2002 ECU also.
My question is the 98 engine and trans harness only (not body harness) and plug it directly on the 2002 PCM and the 2002 engine and have it run.
I dont need to use the body harness.
I didnt want to damage the 2002 engine or the ECU by using the 98 harness if it is pinned differently and at the same time i dont want to pull out the harness and buy the 2002 harness if i dont have to. Cash is tight.
