I dropped my alternator and forgot about the exciter wire and it broke. I bought another plug which has 4 wires, no problem, clip the three not need. But where in the heck does the one wire connect? The wire sticking out of the plug that broke was blue, but the only wire I find in that area is red. How can I locate the end I need to splice into. I am at a loss.

peel back the plastic sheath of the harness in that area, you'll find it.
