Default opinions on dumps right off the LT's

ok so ive considered running a bullet off each LT and having the dumps kicked out to the sides. maybe add a litttle pipe off the headers then put the bullets on. or a true dual setup... but i like cheap and effective lol

right now i run a Y into a single dumped bullet. But imo the car is to damn quite and i really dont like it. i do daily the car.

would i lose power or tq in swapping over to the dumped long tubes?
there is a cammed lq9 going into the car

heres how it sounds with the current setup

It will be retarded loud. Other than that it should work great.

Oh and you will likely stink like exhaust and gas every time you drive it.

Will it work - Yes

Will it be loud - Yes

Will it smell of gas fumes all the time - Yes

Is it optimal - No

I'd suggest running either an X or H pipe setup with dumps. I've got the TSP True Dual system with bullet mufflers dumped. It's loud, but not near as loud as open headers. You really need some type of crossover pipe to help with scavenging.

dumped with bullet is way too quieter than running open headers. it will drone VERY bad at all rpms. not sure how you gonna tolerate daily driving that, there's no reason it shouldnt work if thats what your asking. on the other hand having a custom H or X pipe dumped before the axle will be the best way to go and shouldnt cost you much either.

I would try to go with 3inch all the way back and an X or H then dump it right before the tire. Just get it out the side so you don't smell terrible having the fumes come up under the car. You can also oval the tube for ground clearance.

Then with the cammed LQ itll sound like my other car

Love the way that sounds whiteaw.... So no mufflers? Just 3" in to an x and dump it before the rear tire.

When I first put headers on my car a few years ago I stuck 2 dynomax bullets off the collectors. Don't do it. It sounds like total ****, its extremely loud and obnoxious. I wish I never did it

I would say put maybe a race muffler or something after the header. nothing restrictive just something to break it up.

I have the best of both worlds with DD Z28. A cutout is a nice trick. At the end of the day though 90% of the time its open. and honestly when I do close it its either because im in one of those crappy dont feel like driving moods and I still get pissed off because its still a cammed six speed with rear gear whine. The cutout helps drown out all of the other noises it makes lol

If you still have O2 sensors on your headers you'll need to go at least 10x the collector diameter from the O2 sensors before dumping it , otherwise you run the chance of running rich.
