Default Running Open ORY?

I'm getting my LTs installed today and since it's Saturday all exhaust shops are closed til monday. So I'll be running open ORY til I can get it welded up monday or Tuesday. Its my dd so I'll be driving to work and school. Which each is about 1 mile away from my house. Im not looking for performance gains or loses I know my mpg will suffer a little but it temporary. What are the bad things from open ORY. I friend said I can burn valves like that. Then another ran open headers for 2 months before he welded it up. It was his dd as well.

And what gasket do y'all recommend? I don't want to go in a change a gasket for a while.

this was the issue with old iron heads on SBC motors when they ran open headers due to the cold air creeping back up and hitting the hot valves, warping and bending them. new technology fixed this with better metals and stronger valves. if you are runnin the exhaust through the y-pipe, there is no chance of that.

for gaskets, use new GM MLS ones. they work the best

If you think you might be running it that way more than a few day I'd buy a cheap turn down, otherwise as stated you should be okay.

I currently run an ORY with a corsa and an open cutout. It's loud, but with as much distance as there is between the end of the ORY and and head, you shouldn't have to worry about the valves. If anything I'd worry about the O2 sensors, but that shouldn't be an issue with the ORY bolted up.

I know money's tight, but a set of earplugs may be a worthy investment.

It's really no different then running an open cutout. It's not too loud.

I have been running my WS6 with Pacesetter LT's and an ORY dumped with no muffler for a year and a half daily driven with absolutely no issues what so ever. I recommend going to auotzone and picking up a 3 turndown and a clamp to keep the exhaust from blowing directly on the rear. Trust me your gonna like it like that.

As far as gaskets you can re use the stock 2 peice steel ones. Idc what anyone says I have done it many times and so have some of my friends. Buying another gasket is a waste of coin imo.
