Default Tell me everything about the QTEC

Well just got mine in the mail this week and its going to get welded in Wed. I had a few questions about it.

1) Where does it need to be sealed with silicone, and what kind should I use.

2)I fit the QTEC unit on the cutout, and it didnt seem like the bolts were long enough to securely hold the butterfly wing in place, there was less than 1/4 inch of thread sticking out with the gasket in place.

3) where should I send the wires into the car, should I use the same gromet on the pass. side where the computer runs into the car, or is there a better place.

If I missed anything please educate me.

mount it towards the back of the y pipe. There is a little grommet there right underneath the rear passenger seat that you can run the wiring up through. I only used silicone to seal up the hole that I put in the grommet to fit the wiring through. I only did this to ensure that no moisture got in the car. Just put some red lock tite on those cutout flange bolts and tq them on there. They are short but they will work.

Thanks, I noticed that there isnt much thread sticking out past the plate when you have the valve on there.

i cut those pos threads off and welded my own set on. just get some threaded rod with the same threads and weld it where you cut the old ones off of.

did you buy the cutout and the electric opener from QTec? or did you buy the cutout separately?

i'm about to buy both from QTec and it would be bullshit if i have to grind something to make it fit. how about the McCord?

I called and got them both from QTP. The cutout was in a box and UPS tossed it in the garage and my mom eventually ran the thing over. I tried to fit the valve on the cutout but there was only a little thread sticking out. When I called to order a new cutout they said that, yes there is little thread sticking out but it will still work.
