Default Time for true duals....one problem..

OK so i have officially had enough of the shakes, rattles, rasp, and poor flow of my Y pipe setup. I definitely want true duals but theres one problem. I have full strano suspension which means I have a tunnel brace mounted torque arm and driveshaft loop. Problems to solve are getting around that tunnel brace, how to fit an X pipe in, and what muffler to use for ground clearance. I really would like to pipe it out the side right in front of the rear tire but I also need some sort of muffler quiet enough to not **** off the neighbors.

How on earth do I get around that torque arm!?

Thanks in advance

Scan through a few pages on this section. A member with the same setup as you if i recall did 3 inch piping with magnaflow bullets.

Why not build a new, custom Y, and not worry about fitment?

^ yeah i think the setup blkvert is talking about is mr.lous setup, it can be done ,it will just have to be a custom job, duals are great ,mine are loud but sound great, lots of drone with a dumped setup, so if you want to avoid that i would run all the way back

I do recall UMI making a TA that fits True Duals. I would contact them. This is the route I'll have to go when I save up for a TA.

Well I bought the car with the Torque Arm on it and I really would love to not have to change it. Problem im running into is every X setup I can find makes the x right where the bulky tunnel brace is. If I put it there the ground clearance might actually be zero its already so low there. Gonna start reading the 48 pages from 01SS

I would sell the one you have. Use that money to get the correct TA for TD's. Easiest solution IMO.

upon reading just the first post I may just go with an H pipe and that might solve that problem. Problem now is just what muffler to run. As much as Id love just bullets I need it quiet enough to putt around my old people neighborhood. Id like flowmaster 40s but I dont know if I can make those fit either

I can tell you my car is pretty loud with the bullets. The cam makes it sounds so sweeett though. I love my street where I live bc my neighbors all have loud harleys etc so I just kinda fit right in. The only time someone complained is when I ran open headers in my driveway at 10:30 night when I was running the car with my new H/C installed.

I have dynomax bullets on and at idle it has a rumble and WOT its pretty loud. The only thing I dont like it that it drones alil when cruising for a while, but nothing turning up the radio didnt fix. As far as your tq arm and dsl mount. I got one from MWC that was made for the T/D setup. Made of chromoly and is ALOT lighter than the spohn setup that was on the black car I just bought. It was not as expensive as you would think.

If you are putting them under the back seats run a Magnaflow 4x9 or Borla Pro XS. The magnaflows quieted Mr Luos s 402 and the Borlas made my old iron block with a 230 cam quiet

well I went over to my shop this afternoon and tried to do some work on my current catback thats on my last nerve. I am 95% sure I can fit the Xpipe in where the current y pipe follows inside of the tunnel brace. And the ironic thing is too my strano torque arm is almost identical to the UMI torque arm just a bit shorter. I can either go out each side, or I can try to go out the same side (thats what Id like to do) Im leaning toward 9000 series spintechs. Theyre 4x6x9 inch mufflers so I dont think ill be able to fit them both under one seat bucket. Question now just became do I run Bullets out the passenger side or spintechs out each side. I'd love to have a little bit of that corvette scream and I can really see that happening with the xpipe and spintechs. Opinions?

Have you thought about a 3 inch Y with a 4 inch merge into a muffler or bullet? Fitment is better, ground clearence is more, and not as loud as duals. I use to DD with duals, sounds great but clearence sucks and loudness attracts to much unwanted attention.
