Hold off on coating Macs?

Hold off on coating Macs? I'm thinkin of getting the mac headers (tryin to squeek by cali visual by findin Mr. Shade E. Mekanic 
) I've heard that u need to port/grind a little some of the areas so it flows better and something about cutting off the ball flange. Should I just hold off on the coating until afterward? I don't know entirely what's involved in grinding them. Also, what's the difference between jet-hot coating and cermic coating? Which is better? Also, I gotta have cats, what are my y-pipe options cuz i wanna install it myself but don't want the mac pos cats.
