Cam only lq4 in my car runs great with a comp xer281hr-12 cam. Not sure how the cam will work with the turbo though.

well im trying out the 317 heads once i get a mild cam to go with em. So the .040 cometics correct? what bore size exactly for a stock 5.7L ls1?

was wondering, with 317 heads, .040 cometic gaskets and a 9.9-10:1 CR, and turbo of course... this would work well right with a decent mild sized cam. Im in torn between a few on here (TSP224R, TU1-225, and tick stage 1 turbo cam 226)

man... digging this one up outta the grave lol
Finally, I have settled on a cam SUM-8706 (226/230 .600/.575 113LSA) and running stock 317 heads with LS9 gaskets and pac1218 springs on my stockish ls1. I'll post an update when I finally get it all together lol Last I calculated the CR was about 9.8:1 if I remember right with unmodified heads, but with the summit cam, power will definitely be a bit different.

Anyone else have any updates on their 317 heads, cam, and gaskets, in relation to the amount of boost and driveability?

Typically, it's considered one point of compression is worth 3%, all else remaining the same.

(Note: I realize this is an old thread ... just trying to put it out there.)

I'd trade the 317 for some 862 or 243 heads.
