Default Header Studs

I am installing header studs and want some opinions on what to put on the threads. I am thinking anti sieze on the threads that go into the head and possibly thread locker on the nut?? What do you guys think? Also does anyone know if its a lock nut? Thanks for the help.

Are you talking about the ARP header studs? if so, a little anti-sieze wont hurt it. I just run the stud down until they bottom out finger tight, then back 1/8 turn. Then slap on the header, then washer, then nut. I never used anything on the nut side, but do double check them after a week of driving. Some will have loosened up a touch.

Yep ARP header studs. How do you like them? I think they will be much better than bolts. After you heat cycle did you have any problems with them staying tight?

They are awesome in my setup. I use them in a turbo app and they seal down nicely. Other added benefit is you can hang the header/manifold or gasket on the studs and then worry about getting the nuts for them so that's nice too. They are spendy though!

I never really had any problem staying tight, but mine isnt a DD.

I was thinking of using studs too, but I think I'll stick with bolts and lock tabs. I think the thread locker won't help much with the heat going on in that area. Might want to try lock tabs.

I can't seem to find lock tabs for the header bolts though.

I like the idea of studs simply because it protects those threads inside of the head. Also it makes the install a bit easier. For the $100 price tag though they are not cheap...

Header studs ftw!

Make sure you use ARP torque lube or anti sieze. Tourqe to 26 ft lb.
