2.5" or 3" X pipe
Im planning on installing some pacesetters soon I would like to do a custom true dual setup. I know that the long pipes that run along the driveshaft will not need to be bigger than 2.5", but should I run 3" cats and a 3" X pipe? It would seem that on a 2.5" X pipe, at the point of intersection, the crossection is only slightly larger than a single 2.5" pipe. That seems like it would be constricting. Maybe its actually useful in terms of scavenging to have such a restrictive point in the X pipe.
Basically, should I run 3" cats into a 3 inch X pipe and then reduce to 2.5" for the rest of the exhaust? Or should I reduce to 2.5 right after the headers and run the whole setup 2.5"?
FWIW, the car is currently internally stock, but a cam will definately find its way into the block in due time. Heads are a possability.
Thanks,

1. I need to pass emissions for the next couple years until this car is no longer my daily driver.
2. I hear that 3" duals lowers exhaust velocity to the point that the gasses cool off and become denser and heavier, actually hurting performance.
