Default Quick help! Manifold question

Hey guys I have a 1998 Trans Am, with the Ls1 manifold with EGR obviously, i just recently bought an Ls6 manifold.. the manifold i bought wasnt the one off the C5's, newer trans ams, or 04 GTO's. This Ls6 was off a Z06 corvette, the part number is 12573572. Will this still fit my F body?.. what is the difference between this Z06 LS6 manifold compared to the others, since it does have a different part number! thanks guys.. it will help me out a lot

Intake or exhaust manifold? Intake your s.o.l. there is no provisions for a throttle cable bracket unless you craft something up and if its exhaust I dunno never tried using manifold always went with headers

so you're saying this LS6 manifold wont fit on my LS1? it seems exactly the same as a C5 Ls6 or a 04 GTO

The differences between the LS1/LS6 intake manifolds are the following:

-LS6 manifolds will have a bulged out bottom, LS1 has a flat bottom;

-LS6 manifolds do not have a EGR inlet. You'll need to delete the EQG physically and in the PCM OR get a LS6 manifold modified to accept the EGR fitting;

-LS6 manifolds from Corvettes do not have the throttle cable bracket.

-LS6 manifolds from a Camaro or Firebird will have the throttle cable bracket;

-The steam piping to the rear head fittings will interfere with the underside ribs on the LS6 manifold. You'll need to shave them down.

Well I knew that already but I wont need to shave the bottom If I get the Ls6 coolant lines. My main question was just if the C5 LS6 was any different from the Z06 Ls6. But found out that it's just a later model so either way it will fit

i believe you are talking about the same car/engine. the c5 zo6 comes with an ls6 motor in it, so the c5 ls6 and the Zo6 ls6 are one and the same.

EDIT: oh wait i see what he's saying, the ls6 came on all the 01+ ls1's, so hes saying his is off a z06 model not the base c5 model.....are'nt they the same intake though?

WRONG!

LS6 has the flat bottom and LS1 has the bulge.

i just checked the ls6 intake that im going to install in a little bit (its off an 06 GTO) its the same part number as yours trans am98. it does not have any throttle cable supports so looks like we will both be fabbing up something on our own........

Yes that's an LS6 manifold and will work just fine on your 98. You will have to whack or grind off the ribs that sit over the steam tubes or install the LS6 tubes as you mention. Once you do that, you're in good shape. That's the part # of the one I installed on my 2000.
