Default 370, which heads

I'm on my phone so mods, please put this in the correct place if this is wrong. I'm planning on a 370 lq9 build which will eventually get a 4 inch stroke to make it a 408 once the funds are there. I'm not going for a max effort build so I was wondering the pros and cons of either getting 243's or some ls3/l92 heads. The cam will be purchased after the heads are bought. All thoughts or opinions are welcome

I'm running a stock ci LQ9 with SDPC ported LS3 heads in my car. My car made 463rwhp and 430rwtq with a futral specd cam in it. It feels great on the street and pulls hard all the way to 6500rpms!

i have TEA 243 stage 2 heads on my 370, small 228/230 cam and its a strong runner. I will have new dyno numbers by the end of the month but it should be in the 440hp 430tq range through an auto.

I saw a article in gm-hitech about l92 heads making good power unported .I think you mite find some at SDPC for $375 each.talk to Pat-G for a custom cam.

I will have the heads done up at AI regardless of which set up I go with. And I will most likely have futral spec me a cam or have Pat G. I just heard it takes Pat a while since he's so busy which is definitely understandable. Go On 3 have, keep me updated please. and the l92/ls3 castings are pretty cheap from what I have seen. I just wish I knew more as to why they need just a wide split for the duration. I appreciate the input so far. Do either of you guys have track times?

I have been to the track with some bald nittos, and poor track prep. My car is a full weight (3600lbs) M6 car with 4.10 gears. It has ran a best of 11.92@122 with a poor 1.9 60'! There is a lot left in it if i can get it to hook! I'm thinking it should go 11.5 or better with new drag radials and better track prep!

man, that sounds sweet. the 370 seems to really eat that cam up and it doesn't lope too crazily like some cams do. Thanks guys for the input. I should have new parts flowing in this summer.

If you don't plan FI the AI L92/LS3 option will provide good power for the value. They might be able to put you together a head/cam combination as well to meet your needs.

what if forced induction was a thought down the road. I've always tinkered with the thought of a turbo, but this build will stay as is for 2 or 3 years since I'm heading to grad school
