Will a regular "GM" drop in 160 thermostat work?

Will a regular "GM" drop in 160 thermostat work? I'm on summit's website and are looking at the different 160 degree thermostats. The HYP-1014 is apparently for the LS1, but it costs $50. My thermostat housing has been modified to work with my radiator setup in my rx7 so I don't need the housing, I just need the internals.
Does anyone know if I can order one of the other part numbers and just put it in my modified stock housing?

It depends, not all the internal parts are the same, some are made by motorad and others so you wont be able to swap the insides. You can just shim the thermostat you have though and lower the opening point, just do a search for the 'thermostat mod' and there are a couple sites that show how to do it. Thats all I have ever done, this one opens ~170 now and has worked fine for a year..
