Default testing to see if fuel pump is going bad

OK I can rent a fuel pressure tester. Should i turn the key on and test the pressure at the schrader valve? What readings are good and what readings tell me i have a problem?

Yes, test at the shrader valve with the key on then with the engine running. It should stay around 58-60 psi.

In addition if the pressure tester has a bleed off valve open it while the engine is running with the drain tube away from the engine of course and observe how it affects the engine running. If the pressure drops to 0 but the engine is still running ok thats a good sign. If the engine shuts down or starts to stumble with the pressure bleed open theres a good chance your fuel pump is on borrowed time

OK i tested the pressure. While running the pressure stays a steady 58 psi. With key on engine off the pressure will go to 58 and then slowly drop and continue to drop.Do you think its the fuel pump or could this be a leaking injector. My problem is hard starting ,once it starts it runs fine.

Its going to bleed off some pressure after the pump primes. It could be going back into the tank through the return line or it could be an injector leaking it out.
